At Burghill Community Academy we are incredibly proud of our sport. Having previously been named 'Primary School of the Year for PE & Sport' at the 2016 Herefordshire Sport Awards and being highly commended at the 2024 H&W PE & Sport Premium Awards, we continue to build upon what we have already achieved and create an environment where increasing numbers of children enjoy being physically active and engaging in the inter-school sports competitions and events we run.

We also enjoy taking part in a number of other sporting events, which have included: cross country races, swimming galas, hockey festivals, biathlons, netball matches, rugby tournaments and surfing experiences. As well as these opportunities to actively engage in sport themselves, we have also run a number of extra-curricular events for children to watch professional sport which has included trips to watch Hereford FC, the Lionesses at Euro 2022, trips to the Women's FA Cup Finals and to Wimbledon to watch the tennis.

We are passionate about providing our pupils of all sporting abilities with opportunities to take part in a wide variety of activities and offer a range of after-school clubs ranging from your typical football, tag-rugby and cricket through to your fencing, yoga, golf, cheerleading and more.  As a school, we promote an ethos of 'inclusive competitiveness'. This is where we encourage children of all sporting abilities and confidences to give it their best to try and win when competing in sport but also learning to accept defeat graciously and recognise where to improve in the future.
